Davide Carafòli - TOO CLOSE

Davide Carafòli

Davide Carafoli is an author who explores contemporary narratives through hybrid languages, where the boundaries between art, social activism, and entertainment dissolve.

His approach is that of an auteur who conceives, writes, and builds storytelling systems, engaging the audience in a direct and critical experience:

  • “Bullismo 360 Gradi” (Bullying 360 Degrees) is a virtual reality project he conceived and created for Pepita Onlus, which forces the viewer, through the use of VR headsets, to experience first-hand the different roles within a bullying dynamic.

  • “Solo per Te” (Just for You) is a photographic exhibition he conceived and created in collaboration with photographer Tommaso Orlandi. The project, created for Fondazione Carolina, transforms images, selfies and messages, once intimate signs of love, into a public investigation of vulnerability and identity in the digital age.

  • “CrowdFundKill” is a project for a political-musical web series, for which he wrote the screenplay and directed. Born from a personal disgust for the nihilism of contemporary politics, it follows a young rock band, an unwitting pawn of a hacker, whose fundraising campaign is hijacked into a drive to physically eliminate corrupt politicians.

  • “Il Blues di Malaussène” is a musical theatre project for which he directed, created the video design, and performed on stage as vocalist and harmonica player, transforming Daniel Pennac’s celebrated saga into an original blues opera narrated by actor readings extracted from “Monsieur Malaussène au théâtre”.

TOO CLOSE is the purest synthesis of this research. It is a conceptual mechanism that, starting from the same principles of engagement and critique, forces an active investigation, revealing the fundamental discrepancy between aesthetic appearance and hidden truth.
